What If Your Problems Are Not What They Seem?

When we live by self-imposed rules and stories, we inevitably encounter “problems.” These problems are often the direct result of the narratives we’ve constructed, creating patterns of discomfort and tension in our lives. But what if these problems are not as they appear—what if they’re outcomes of unconscious assumptions and solutions that no longer serve us?

For instance, someone who feels inadequate might create a solution to overcompensate by striving for perfection. This solution becomes a rule: “I must always prepare thoroughly and avoid mistakes at all costs.” At work, this means staying late, double-checking every detail, and striving to prove themselves. While this may seem like a practical response, it actually reinforces stress and fatigue, intensifying the original problem.

EFC invites us to become aware of these patterns, recognising how our bodily responses and emotional reactions are tied to the stories and rules we’ve carried for years. By tuning into this deeper awareness, we begin to see beyond the immediate problems and understand that they are signals guiding us to shift our perspective. Connecting with our deeper self allows us to move from reactivity to clarity, revealing that the “problem” is often an invitation to align more authentically with who we are.

Next, we’ll explore how, by questioning and rewriting these stories, we can create a narrative that aligns with our true nature and potential.
