The problem with all the searching is that it keeps you going around a revolving door of seeking and this actually contributes to your suffering. As a sufferer, you want and need more than a band-aid temporary fix, or even placebo. You need an approach that addresses the primary causes of your symptoms and gives you the exact principles, processes and strategies that will effectively address those causes.

You need an approach that is going to facilitate a return to optimum health, so you can experience a good night’s sleep and wake up in the morning feeling refreshed rather than with a body that’s heavy with aches and pains.

When you suffer from fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue, you feel alone, frustrated, and isolated. Along with the catalogue of symptoms from headaches, muscle pain and fatigue, there is the associated anxiety and depression. There’s every chance you are on a cocktail of medications from pain killers to sleeping tablets and even anti-depressants. Get Out Of The Revolving Door

Leading edge scientific evidence suggests that symptoms of fatigue and pain result from changes, irregularities or dysfunctions within the mid-brain and limbic-hypothalamic-pituitary system.

In academic terms, this is known as the HPA axis, and is made up of the hypothalamus gland, located at the base of the brain; the pituitary gland, also located in the brain; and the adrenal glands, located on top of the kidneys. The hypothalamus links the nervous system and the endocrine system, it stimulates the pituitary gland to produce hormones and the adrenal gland to produce cortisol and epinephrine (commonly known as adrenaline).

The HPA axis is a major part of the neuroendocrine system that controls and regulates almost everything to do with human survival; including digestion and appetite, sleep cycles, the immune system, mood and emotions, sexual behavior, body temperature, energy storage, and expenditure. It also communicates with several regions of the brain, including the amygdala, which generates fear in response to danger, and with the hippocampus, which plays an important part in memory formation as well as in mood and motivation. In addition, the HPA axis forms part of a complex feedback system that is constantly responding to the environment both internally and externally. In response to the information it receives, the HPA axis regulates and controls the chemicals and hormones that affect body systems.

So, we can begin to see that the autonomic nervous system, immune system, and endocrine system are all affected when there are irregularities within the HPA-axis and other brain regions, and this leads to the question…

What Causes These Irregularities?

The simple answer to this question is stress; when a body is in a perpetual state of stress inflammation occurs throughout body and brain and overactivity is registered in a variety of brain regions, particularly the HPA-axis. We know that stress plays a significant role in many chronic health challenges including heart disease and cancers, but what exactly is it?

In everyday parlance, we use the word stress to mean an agitated discomfort, “I’ve had a stressful day at the office”. However, when we look at stress from a biological and healthcare perspective, we could define it as an objective measurable set of biochemical events in the body; and crucially your body can be locked in a state of stress without you being aware of it.  The other vital piece of information is that emotional trauma and physical trauma, such as an injury or disease, trigger the exact same stress response within the body and brain. This means that you could have a car accident, a virus or experience a relationship breakdown and the stress response that is subsequently triggered in the body is exactly the same.

Chronic stress often exists outside of your awareness and it keeps your body locked in high alert. It is this chronic stress that leads to a re-wiring within brain regions which in turn modulates body systems through the HPA axis leading to inflammation in the body and the presence of symptoms. When irregularities are evident in these brain regions it wreaks havoc throughout the entire body – and this results in the experience of symptoms from mild to severe.
